Favorite Memory: Pie to the face !
To celebrate acceptance into the cast of The Varsity Show, the Creative Team finds the new cast and pies them in the face!
Gigi Russo
“I’m a big fan of acceptance night when we all get pied in the face and run to each other’s dorms”
Did you know Gigi also very passionate about pigeons?
@giuliana_with_a_g
Joseph Meyer
His favorite memory includes “when I knocked the pie down and successfully blocked my attempted face-pieing”
Not only is Joseph a twin, but he did the varsity show because he wanted to do a virtual musical (is he a psychic??)
@joemeyerr
Sophia Houdaigui
Sophia especially enjoyed her time pieing her former V124 castmate Ethan Woo
@sophiahoudaigui
“People don't laugh at themselves enough, and The Varsity Show forces stressed out college students to take a moment every year (or twice) to laugh at their actions.”
— Sophia Houdaigui
Want to learn more about some things you laughed at during the show? Check out the Glossary!
“I want to be Kate McKinnon when I grow up”
Naomi Rubin
Naomi is thrilled to have met so many lovely people!
@naomithefool
What’s Turkey Day?
“As a cast member, Turkey Day is an amazing opportunity to showcase the production that you and the creative team have constructed to a diverse group of alumni, using their feedback to create a performance that truly speaks to the hectic and technicolor world of Columbia!”
— Adam Kluge
Jerry Zheng
Jerry is a big fan of turkey day, but the guy on Love at First Kiss is a big fan of him… did you know he dm’d Jerry once?
He also looks great in black and yellow- which was his primary motivation to do the varsity show
@jerryyzheng
Adam Kluge
As a transfer, Adam was looking for a place on campus to “truly embrace my silliness, quirks and all”.
He says, “he Varsity Show provided all of this and then some, introducing me to a group of brilliant performers and lifelong friends!”
In fact- he states that his love story with Gigi Russo began at callbacks… “A magical place.”
Well really he is, “contractually obligated to say very little about this experience.”

Twitter: @arkluge
He says “March 7th's Turkey Day, when we were still young, innocent, and excited for the months ahead.” is his favorite memory.
He says he loves to kick it with my homies! (Read: To meet new people and join an original production, something I had never been a part of before)
He thinks this virtual Varsity Show will be such a smash that they will never do one live again…
The Creative Team loves…
Retreat
Joseph Kurtz
Joseph says, “It's great bonding time to really get to know the people you'll work with for the next semester (or year, haha).”
During retreat he enjoyed playing with Legos while listening to Callum and Ian write songs.
Joseph has 7 siblings, can do a backflip, and made a walking duck robot this year!
“Choreo Office Hours”
Sophie Visscher-Lubinizki
Sophie loves to tell a unique and creative Columbia story through dance!
Her time in “Choreo Office Hours” in Lerner 5 hanging out and practicing dance with my amazing cast was a highlight
Sophie loves to cook in her spare time! When she was a kid, she used to cook on local television.
@sophie.visch
Writing in the Broadway Sky Lounge…
with Callum :)
Ian Yan
Ian has found a friend in a potted plant that he purchased from the flower shop on 112th, lovingly dubbed Snelly.
His favorite traditions include sitzprobe, Tech Week, the after-show cast party, IAL Diamond awards, in-person accolades from friends family and alumni etc…
@ianyiyan
with Ian :)
Callum has recently been served with a subpoena by the Los Angeles County Superior Court. He says he wanted to give back to Columbia by making fun of it

Meet Our Artists!
Connie Tran
Connie loves sitting on the steps at night and appreciating the view and falling asleep in the Milstein green spinny chairs.
@tsundial
Ren Huang
Building, decorating, and consuming four gingerbread houses in a single week by accidentally wandering into dining hall holiday events are some of her favorite memories!
Ren is an artist on a quest to draw nothing but cats, cute girls, and copious amounts of fabric.
@sy_sketches
Isabel Stern
"I had so much fun making the drawings for the Varsity Show, it’s my first college art project! I’m looking forward to many more :)”
@i.s._art
Liza Evseeva
Liza and her best friend, Kat, did a mini Disney movie marathon accompanied by a (very) dramatic reenactment of all the songs.
She loves working at Milstein with a cup of coffee from Peet's, meeting with Spec Illustrations gang at the office, bonding with acquaintances.
